Product Description
Human S100 calcium binding protein A12/Calgranulin-C (S100A12) ELISA Kit | KTE60769 | Abbkine
Application: This Human S100 calcium binding protein A12/Calgranulin-C (S100A12) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate S100A12 in samples. An antibody specific for S100A12 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyS100A12 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for S100A12 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of S100A12 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background: S100 calcium binding protein A12 encoded by S100A12 is a member of the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells, and involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100 genes include at least 13 members which are located as a cluster on chromosome 1q21. S100 calcium binding protein A12 is proposed to be involved in specific calcium-dependent signal transduction pathways and its regulatory effect on cytoskeletal components may modulate various neutrophil activities. S100 calcium binding protein A12 includes an antimicrobial peptide which has antibacterial activity.
