Background: In Brassicaceae, the enzyme myrosinase (beta-thioglucoside glucohydrolase, TGG) degrades glucosinolates to produce toxins like thiocyanates, isothiocyanates, nitriles, epithionitriles or oxazolidine- 2-thiones that deter herbivory.
