Background: Human Kallikrein 5 (KLK5) is a serine protease produced in its inactive form. It is found in catalytically active form in stratum corneum. It has been reported to degrade desmosomes/corneodesmosomes, suggesting that it is involved in desquamtion. Egelrud et al. (2005) hK5 and hK7, two serine proteinases abundant in human skin, are inhibited by LEKTI domain 6. J Invest Dermatol, 124 (1) :198-203. Alternative names: stratum corneum tryptic enzyme, Kallikrein-like protein 2, KLK-L2
Reconstitution: For reconstitution add 200 µl of sterile water
Storage: Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
