Product Description
Biovision | BMP-5 (Human) ELISA Kit | E5088-100
Description: Bone morphogenetic protein 5 (BMP-5) belongs to the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) signaling family and has a very broad biological role in development. It plays an essential role in many developmental processes, including cartilage and bone formation or neurogenesis. BMP-5 act as an important signaling molecule within the trabecular meshwork and optic nerve head, and may play a potential role in glaucoma pathogenesis. It initiates the canonical BMP signaling cascade by associating with type I receptor BMPR1A and type II receptor BMPR2. BMP-5 plays a role in certain cancers. It acts as a key regulator of basal prostate stem cell homeostasis and identifies a potential therapeutic approach against Pten-deficient cancers. BMP5 accelerates expression of hypertrophy markers which is of relevance in both development and diseases such as osteoarthritis. BioVision’s BMP-5 (Human) ELISA Kit is used for the quantitative detection of 5 in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. It is based on the principle of sandwich ELISA. The capture antibody is pre-coated on 96-well plates. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody are added to the wells subsequently, and washed with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with wash buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected using TMB-substrate. Finally, an acidic stop solution terminates the enzymatic reaction. The color developed is directly proportional to the amount of BMP-5 in the sample.
