Product Description
Biovision | BMP-7 (Human) ELISA Kit | E5089-100
Description: Bone morphogenetic protein 7 (BMP-7) also known as osteogenic protein-1 or OP-1 belongs to the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) signaling family and has a very broad biological role in development. BMP-7 plays an essential in the transformation of mesenchymal cells into bone and cartilage. It initiates the canonical BMP signaling cascade by associating with type I receptor ACVR1 and type II receptor ACVR2A. BMP-7 is involved in bone homeostasis. It is expressed in the brain, kidneys and bladder. BMP-7 also has the potential for treatment of chronic kidney disease. Overexpression of renal BMP-7 is capable of inhibiting TGF-β/Smad3 signaling and protects the kidney from TGF-β-mediated renal injury. BMP-7 decreases renal fibrosis in diabetic nephropathy by regulating miR-21/Smad7 signaling, providing a theoretical basis for the development of novel and effective therapeutic drugs for diabetic nephropathy. BioVision’s BMP-7 (HuLISA Kit is used for the quantitative detection of BMP-7 in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. It is based on the principle of sandwich ELISA. The capture antibody is pre-coated on 96-well plates. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody are added to the wells subsequently, and washed with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with wash buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected using TMB-substrate. Finally, an acidic stop solution terminates the enzymatic reaction. The color developed is directly proportional to the amount of BMP-7 in the sample.
