Description: Bone morphogenetic protein 8B (BMP-8B) belongs to the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) signaling family and has a very broad biological role in development. It plays an essential role in many developmental processes, including neurogenesis, vascular development, angiogenesis and osteogenesis. It induces cartilage and bone formation. BMP-8B may be the osteo-inductive factor responsible for the phenomenon of epithelial osteogenesis. It plays a role in calcium regulation and bone homeostasis. BMP-8B is a major contributor to NASH progression. Absence of BMP8B in healthy livers, inhibition of BMP-8B may represent a promising new therapeutic avenue for NASH treatment. BMP-8B, a previously unknown secreted factor in cancer progression, has the potential to be used as a prognostic biomarker. BioVision’s BMP-8B (Mouse) ELISA Kit is based on the Sandwich-ELISA principle. The micro-ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated an antibody specific to Mouse BMP-8B. Standards or samples are added to the micro-ELISA plate wells that bind to the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Mouse BMP-8B and Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate are added successively to each micro plate well and incubated. The wells are washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and blue color develops in proportion to the amount of BMP-8B bound. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution and turns color. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of Mouse BMP-8B. The concentration of Mouse BMP-8B in the samples can be calculated by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.
