Biovision | Methionine-Enkephalin ELISA Kit | E5098-100
Description: Methionine enkephalin (MEK) is an opioid peptide composed of five amino acids with multiple biological activities. MEK is prominent in neuroregulation and immunoregulation, antinociceptive/analgesic, antidepressant, and gastrointestinal (GI) motility modulating activities. The enkephalins are considered to be the primary endogenous ligands of the δ-opioid receptor, due to their high potency and selectivity for the site over the other endogenous opioids. MEK is a pentapeptide with the amino acid sequence tyr-gly-gly-phe-met. The tyrosine residue at position 1 is thought to be analogous to the 3-hydroxyl group on morphine. Tumors have increasingly been a spotlight because of their terrible trends and refractory characteristic. The therapeutic potential of MEK was investigated on a large scale, and there are numerous evidences that MEK exerts anti-tumor effects via two mechanisms. BioVision’s Methionine-Enkephalin ELISA Kit ised to quantitatively measure MEK in Serum, plasma and other biological fluids. The kit is based on the Competitive ELISA principle. The micro-ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with MEK. During the reaction, MEK in samples or Standard competes with a fixed amount of MEK on the solid phase supporter for sites on the Biotinylated Detection Ab specific to MEK. Excess conjugate and unbound sample or standard are washed from the plate, and Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase are added to each microplate well and incubated. Then a TMB substrate solution is added to each well. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. The concentration of MEK in the samples can be calculated by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.
