Product Description
Biovision | E5048 | Transferrin (Human) ELISA Kit DataSheet
Transferrin is an iron binding transport protein which binds two Fe3+ ions. Transferrin is a free peptide (apotransferin) that undergoes a conformation change after binding with iron. It transports iron from the sites of absorption and heme degradation to the bone marrow for production of hemoglobin and erythrocytes. An increase in transferrin can denote a possible iron deficiency anemia while low levels could indicate kidney injury with loss of transferrin in urine or atransferrinemia. BioVision’s Transferrin (Human) ELISA Kit is used for the quantitative detection of Transferrin in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. It is based on the principle of sandwich ELISA. The capture antibody is pre-coated on 96-well plates. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody are added to the wells subsequently, and washed with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with wash buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected using TMB-substrate. Finally, an acidic stop solution terminates the enzymatic reaction. The color developed is directly proportional to the amount of Transferrin in the sample.
