BACKGROUND: The AER-37 (CRA1) antibody binds to the FC epsilon receptor I alpha subunit (FceR1a) , a 50 kDA transmembrane protein. It is part of a tetrameric receptor complex composed from one alpha subunit, one beta subunit, and two gamma subunits. The FceR1a binds and is upregulated by the presence of IgE. It plays a role in prompting the allergic reactions mediated by IgE.
