Flucytosine, a fluorinated pyrimidine analog that displays antifungal activities. 5-FC is deaminated by cytosine deaminase to product 5-fluorouracil, resulting in RNA miscoding. Flucytosine inhibits DNA and RNA synthesis and interferes with ribosomal protein synthesis.
