Product Description
Mouse Matrix metalloproteinase 8/Neutrophil collagenase (MMP8) ELISA Kit | KTE70997 | Abbkine
Application: This Mouse Matrix metalloproteinase 8/Neutrophil collagenase (MMP8) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MMP8 in samples. An antibody specific for MMP8 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMMP8 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MMP8 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MMP8 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background: Mmp8 encodes a member of the matrix metalloproteinase family of extracellular matrix-degrading enzymes that are involved in tissue remodeling, wound repair, progression of atherosclerosis and tumor invasion. The encoded preproprotein undergoes proteolytic processing to generate a mature, zinc-dependent endopeptidase enzyme that degrades types I, II and III collagens. Mice lacking the encoded protein exhibit abnormalities in the inflammatory responses to various agents. Mmp8 is located in a cluster of other matrix metalloproteinase genes on chromosome 9.
