Background: mStrawberry is constitutively fluorescent, red fluorescent protein derived from Discosoma sp. developed in Dr. Roger Tsien's lab by directed mutagenesis of mRFP (Shaner et al. 2004) . The mStrawberry fluorescent protein photobleaches rapidly, threfore mCherry is recommended for applications in which require a more photostable red monomer.
