Product Description
Biovision | MMP-26 (Human) ELISA Kit | E5085-100
Description: Matrix metalloproteinase-26 (MMP-26) also known as matrilysin-2 and Endometase belongs to the matrix metalloproteinase family. These are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. MMP-26 hydrolyzes collagen type IV, fibronectin, fibrinogen, beta-casein, type I gelatin and alpha-1 proteinase inhibitor. The protein differs from most MMP family members in that it lacks a conserved C-terminal protein domain. It also able to activate progelatinase B. MMP-26 is highly expressed in many cancers. It is a potential serum biomarker in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. BioVision’s MMP-26 (Human) ELISA Kit is used for the quantitative detection of MMP-26 in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. It is based on the principle of sandwich ELISA. Thcapture antibody is pre-coated on 96-well plates. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody are added to the wells subsequently, and washed with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with wash buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected using TMB-substrate. Finally, an acidic stop solution terminates the enzymatic reaction. The color developed is directly proportional to the amount of MMP-26 in the sample.
