Background: MTF-2 (metal response element binding transcription factor 2), also known as PCL2 (polycomb-like protein 2) or metal-response element DNA-binding protein M96, is a 593 amino acid nuclear protein that binds the metal-regulatingelement (MRE) of the gene promoter for Metallothionein 1A. Containing two PHD-type zinc fingers, MTF-2 exists as three alternatively spliced isoforms and is encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 1p22.1. Human chromosome 1 spans 260 million base pairs, contains over 3,000 genes, comprises nearly 8% of the human genome and houses a large number of diseaseassociated genes, including those that are involved in familial adenomatous polyposis, Stickler syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, Gaucher disease, schizophrenia and Usher syndrome.
Storage & Stability: Store at 4°C short term. Aliquot and store at -20°C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Specificity: MTF2 polyclonal Antibody detects endogenous levels of MTF2 protein.
Molecular Weight: ~ 67kDa
