A Peptides is a short chain of amino acids which are linked by the bonds of peptide. Chain which are less than ten or fifteen amino acids are known as oligopeptides. A polypeptide which contains mor than fifty amino acids that are called as a protein.
Proteins can be digested by enzymes into a small peptide fragments, on the cells peptides function biologically like some peptides act as hormones which are molecules which is released from cells and affect the other areas of the body. Examples of peptides are melittin(honey bee venom),gluatathione(stimulates tissue growth), hormone oxytocin, the pancreatic hormone insulin and glucagon. Side effects of peptides are itchiness, water retention, increase hunger, dry mouth, high blood pressure, expereme kidney pain and joint pain.
