BACKGROUND: AGR2 (Anterior gradient protein 2 homolog) is thought to promote breast tumorigenesis and is overexpressed in breast cancer cells. High levels of AGR2 indicate a poor prognosis. This suggests it may serve as a useful prognostic indicator and marker of breast cancer metastasis.
