BACKGROUND: PIK4CB phosphorylates phosphatidylinositol (PI) in the first committed step in the production of the second messenger inositol-1, 4, 5, -trisphosphate (PIP) . It may regulate Golgi disintegration/reorganization during mitosis, possibly via its phosphorylation.
