Avibactam (NXL104) is a potent inhibitor of class A and C serine β-lactamases, including KPC carbapenemases. NXL104 quantitatively inhibits BlaC, the only chromosomally encoded β-lactamase from Mycobacterium tuberculosis, by forming a carbamyl adduct with the enzyme.
