AZ 3146 is a potent and selective Mps1 (monopolar spindle 1) kinase inhibitor (IC₅₀ = 35 nM). Shows selectivity over 46 other kinases including aurora kinase B and Cdk1. AZ 3146 overrides spindle assembly checkpoint and also interferes with chromosome alignment. It has shown to inhibit the recruitment of Mad1, 2 and centromere protein E (CENP-E) to kinetochores.
