Donepezil is a potent acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor with an IC₅₀ value of 5.7 nM. It produces a significant increase in acetylcholine content in rat cerebral cortex at a dose of 5 mg/kg (po). It is used for treating Alzheimer’s disease.
