Sarecycline is a semi-synthetic tetracycline, narrow-spectrum antibiotic, being developed to treat patients suffering from moderate to severe acne vulgaris. Sarecycline is more active than tetracycline against tet(K) and tet(M) gram-positive bacterial strains, with MICs ranging from 0.125 to 1.0 μl/ml and 8 μl/ml for sarecycline when compared to MICs of 16 to 64 μl/ml and 64 μl/ml for tetracycline respectively.
