OICR-9429 is a small-molecule inhibitor of the WDR5-MLL interaction that effectively stops the growth of breast cancer cell lines driven by p53 gene mutation. It also stops the growth of subtype of leukemia cells having specific mutation found in about 9% of the patients with acute myeloid leukemia. WDR5 is a component of a mixed-lineage leukemia (MLL) methyltransferase complex that targets histone 3.
