FN exists as either an insoluble multimeric fibrillar component of extracellular matrix (cellularFN or cFN) or as a soluble monomeric form that is produced by hepatocytes and secreted directly into plasma (plasma FN or pFN).FN plays a major role in cell adhesion, growth, migration, and differentiation, and it is important for processes such as wound healing and embryonic development.
