Description: Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) constitute a subfamily within the TGF-β superfamily of structurally related signaling proteins. Members of this superfamily are widely distributed throughout the body and are involved in diverse physiological processes during both pre- and postnatal life. Like BMP-7, BMP-4 is involved in the development and maintenance of bone and cartilage. Reduced expression of BMP-4 is associated with a number of bone diseases, including the heritable disorder Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva. Recombinant human BMP-4, expressed in HeLa cells, is a 31-36 kDa homodimeric glycoprotein.
Purity Confirmation: >95% by SDS-PAGE
Endotoxin: N/A
Formulation: lyophilized
Storage Handling Stability: Lyophilized BMP4 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution BMP-4 should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
